A plan usually doesn’t survive it’s execution. But, only a fool doesn’t develop one. Be flexible enough to create on the fly but, before you shoot anything, STORYBOARD/PREVIZ all of your scenes.

Does that mean the actors have no room to express a unique character persona? of course not! With a collection of pre-tested options you don’t waste much time on bad takes, camera angles, lighting, framing, continuity, etc.

Do diligence and visualization can create a roadmap that is easily understood and followed by everyone on the project. Storyboards increase the value of feedback and critiques because film makers previewed more options to choose from before the cameras are rolling.

A storyboard/previz can be done on audio of Actors doing a table read. to give the producers a better idea of the dialog flow also, it looks cool!
